Blow Hole (Hummanaya)

Blow Hole is a one of the nice natural creation in Sri Lanka. It is well know as a " Hummanaya " which located at Dikwella in Mathara District. Actually it is better to introduce this as a huge water sprinkler. Though there are two Blow Holes in Sri Lanka , among them this one is the largest Blow Hole which situated at Kudawella. It is 12 Km far from Dikwella. Other one is located at Unawatuna in Galle District.

Before visit this Blow Hole, first you must climb a small mountain called " Wellekele ". The name called " Hummanaya " created because of its sound. It makes a sound called ho- ho- ho. This Blow Hole is the second largest Blow Hole in the world. There are so many local and foreign visitors come to visit this.

This natural water sprinkler is not work everytime. After the water pressure comes up, it takes few minutes to come up again. This happens beacause of the water pressure of the sea waves. There is a cave beneath the Blow Hole. Then sea waves come from both sides. Both are met together and after it makes a huge water pressure. Then it enters to the Blow Hole & comes out as a huge sprinkler.

Sometimes the water spray which comes from the sprinkler makes rainbow colours because of the sunlight. It is a beautiful scene for everyone. After watching the video which I given below helps you to get some idea about the Blow Hole.
